History

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ROSELLE RACERS:

1971	The Roselle Racers were formed and participated in the Northern Illinois Swim Conference.
1976	The Racers joined the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference.
1979	The Racers entered the White Division.
1979-2001	The Roselle Racers remains in the White Division and wins several White Division Championships.
2001	Referendum fails and Kemmerling Pool closes. Roselle Park District provides financial support for rental of Streamwood Aquarius Pool for practices and home meets. The Racers celebrate their 30^th anniversary.
2002	The Racers compete in the Red Division. They win A & B Conference and move back into the White Division. IN November, a 4^th referendum run by the Roselle Community Parks group fails by a narrow margin.
2003	The Roselle Park District can no longer subsidize the Racers. Thanks to the support from the community (Taste of Roselle, McDonald’s & The Chamber of Commerce) the Racers are able to get financial backing to rent Streamwood’s pool. The Racers remain in the White Division.
2004	The Racers host White Division A-Conference. The Racers move to the Red Division.
2006	With a 2:1 margin; Roselle Park District voters approve a bond-funding referendum to renovate Kemmerling Park and replace Kemmerling Pool With community and park district support, the Racers have survived and thrived for 7 seasons as nomads!
2008	The new Kemmerling Pool and Park opens! Thank you to the taxpayers and Park Commissioners! Racers compete in the Red Division, win A Conference and move back to the White Division.
2011	The Roselle Racers celebrate their 40^th season.
2012	The Racers add diving to their program to become the Roselle Racers Swim & Dive Team!
2013	Racers host White Division B Conference. Racers compete in White Division.
2014	Racers compete in White Division. Heat winner tags were implemented. Changed over to new timing system: Colorado Dolphin Timing System.
2015	Racers compete in Red Division.
2016	Racers compete in White Division. Dive team ends after season.
2017	Racers compete in White Division.
2018	Racers host White Division A Conference. Racers move down to Red Division.
2019	Racers host Red Division A Conference. Pool equipment breaks down – start season off using Streamwood indoor pool. Middle of season back at our pool. Racers compete in Red Division. Racers get custom swimsuits.
2020	All DSDC swim clubs closed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
2021	The Racers celebrations their 50^th season. First year implementing online forms. First year competing with virtual meets due to COVID-19 regulations from IDPH. No Conferences held through DSDC due to COVID-19. Racers compete in Red Division.
