Club History

The Roselle Racers swim team is a member of the 14 team Du Page Swim and Dive Conference (The Roselle Racers do not participate in diving meets.). The program is designed for boys and girls ages 5-18. A total of ten meets are held during June and July on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. It is not a requirement to attend each meet. Conference championships are held the last two Saturdays in July. There is also a banquet at the end of the season. Practices are held every weekday morning except Thursday. All practices and home meets will be held at Streamwood Park District pools. Swimmers compete in their own age group. Swimmers age 8 and under must be able to swim 25 yards (1 lap) without stopping and swimmers 9 and over must be able to swim 50 yards (2 laps) without stopping.

1971     The Roselle Racers were formed and participated in the Northern Illinois Swim Conference.
1976  Roselle joined the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference.
1979   Roselle entered the White Division.
1979 - 2001 Roselle remains in White Division and wins several White Division championships.
2001 Referendum fails and Kemmerling pool closes. Roselle Park District provides financial support for rental of Streamwood Aquarius pool for practice and home meets. Racers celebrate 30th anniversary.
2002 Racers compete in the Red Division. They win A and B-Conference and move back to the White Division.  In November, a 4th referendum run by the Roselle Community Parks group fails by a narrow margin.
2003 The Roselle Park District can no longer subsidize the Racers. Thanks to support from the community (Taste Of Roselle, McDonald's and  Chamber of Commerce ), the Racers are able to get financial backing to rent Streamwood's pool.  Racers remain in White Division.
2004 Racers host White Division A-Conference. Racers move to the Red Division.
2006 With a two to one margin, Roselle Park District voters approve a bond funding referendum to renovate Kemmerling Park and replace Kemmerling Pool. The new pool is expected to open in 2008!  With community and park district support, the Racers have survived and thrived for 7 seasons as nomads!
2008 The new, ultra modern Kemmerling Pool and Park opens! Thank you taxpayers and Park Commissioners! Racers compete in the Red Division, win A-Conference and move back to the White Division.
